Weather Information
Cold Weather
During winter weather events, the Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) monitors forecasts and roadway conditions and coordinates closely with the City of Winston-Salem, including City DOT, and emergency management partners to support safe and effective transit operations.
As conditions develop, WSTA may be required to switch to SNOW ROUTES. These routes are developed to keep service running to as many areas of town as possible, safely. In the event SNOW ROUTES are initiated all TransAID clients with trips booked may be contacted if adjustments are required.
Below you can find information on where buses will run if SNOW ROUTES are activated. Please be advised notifications will go out on www.wstransit.com, www.Ridewsta.com, facebook, and instagram. You can sign up for text alerts by clicking here

If WSTA initiates Snow Routes, customers are encouraged to review the posted end-of-service times included in the notice. Riders should plan accordingly, as service will conclude at the published times and no transportation will be provided from the Transit Center after the final run has departed.
A snow event does not automatically result in fare-free service. Fare-free transportation is only implemented when specific extreme weather thresholds are met and officially authorized. Customers should monitor all official WSTA notification channels for confirmed fare-free announcements and service details.
