The City of Winston-Salem is completing a Route Study for the Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA).

The primary goal of the Route Study is to plan for changes to the WSTA bus system that create services that are faster, more frequent, and expand job opportunities for City residents and strengthen labor markets for area businesses.

The study will take a close look at the current bus routes and propose changes to improve the way we do things, from more frequent bus routes to new technologies. It is our vision to create a more connected community for all residents and visitors.

Time Changes

As of September 7, 2025, WSTA is continuing to roll out new and improved routes to better serve our community. These changes are based on rider feedback, service evaluations, and a commitment to making public transportation more accessible and convenient for everyone.

✔️ More direct routes to key destinations
✔️ Improved frequency on high-demand routes
✔️ Better connections between routes to reduce wait times

What has changed?

Most of the changes are focused on improving stop reliability and making sure service matches when and where people ride most. The biggest update is a slight adjustment to operating hours, service will now end one hour earlier than before.

For example if your bus previously left the TC at 11:00pm it will now leave at 10:00pm All new maps are being finalized and will be posted
